The ATO has released for consultation a draft legislative instrument ABRS 2022/D1 to relieve persons who is a director on or before 31 October 2021, but ceased to hold the director role before 1 December 2022, from the need to obtain a director ID. This is a reversal of the ATO’s previous position.
In essence, if an individual were or became a director before 31 Oct 2021 and have permanently resigned as a director by 1 December 2022, then the individual does not need to get a Director ID. This is because the individual is out of the system, therefore there is no need for a Director ID.
